Phat Thai au Boeuf from Yaki
Phat thai is a typical Thai dish. The one I ordered at Yaki comes close to the ones I ate in Thailand. Good noodles, loads of peanut flavor. Fresh beef. I like the undertone of limegrass in there. A bit expensive but hey, it’s millionaires monday!

Crepe Paysanne from La Maison Des Crepes
I returned to the house of crepes today and had a really superb crepe stuffed with tiny tender boiled potatoes and big chunks of salty bacon, all swimming in a thick sauce of moutarde l’ancienne. The mustard was so good. At one point it almost literally overpowered my nasal cavity. This is a good thing!

Sandwich Boulette avec Chourouge et Chouxblanc from Viva M’Boma
Ok I have to admit, this is the first time I repeat myself on this blog but the boulette/chourouge/chouxblanc is just too good not to eat several times a  month. The chemistry of this sandwhich just works. You have the sweet and the vinaigre together with these lovely homemade boulettes. It’s just a classic sandwich.

Sandwich Mozzarella et Jambon Serrano from Charli
I want to like the sandwiches from this cute, modern bakery around the corner, but I find it hard to. While the ingredients are very good, top quality mozzarella and proper spanish jambon serrano, the sandwich always feels a bit “dry” and the bread is a little “heavy”. Maybe it’s because I am a butter-freak and they wouldn’t put butter on my sandwich. Fair enough, I am not the chef, but it does make it harder to like this place.

Crabburger from Noordzee
Today we went to good old Noordzee and I tried the Crabburger. Mhm mhm mhm what a feast. It’s like a deepfried piece of crabmeat with 2 slices of their delicious cylinder bread. (I asked and apparently it comes from a bakery in Jette called “Enes”). They serve it with some slices of tomato, some cresson and a home-made tartare sauce. I think I discovered another favorite of mine.

Crepe Provencale aux Lard from Maison des Crepes
This little gem of a creperie, right next to the Grand Place, in the heart of tourist town, is far from a tourist trap. It’s got a traditional vibe and was a super relaxing place to eat on a sunny afternoon. My crepe was really good, salty bacon (Lard), cheese, and provencale vegetables. It was well stuffed too. I’ll have to come back here soon as there are at least 10 other crepes I must try!

Ravioli aux Truffes et Jambon Parma from Barone
Another delicious italian meal from Osteria Del Barone where it always tastes like home cooking. This time it was fat ravioli’s stuffed with parma ham and truffle flakes. Really good, and the richness of the ravioli was perfectly offset by the tangy, creamy sauce. I’ll definitely be back for more!

Boeuf Sauté from Pataya
Mhm mhm mhm I could eat Thai food everyday but Pataya on Rue Antoine Dansaert is one of the better places around our office to eat Thaifood. I had a beef with a sauce made from Thai Basil. The beef was really tender and the rice was perfectly cooked. Not too spicy. Just with a little coriander on top.

Oostends Koninginnehapje at In ‘t Spinnekopke
Waw. An other typical Belgian place is “In ‘t Spinnekopke”. We had the lunch of the day which on friday is a fish-dish. Nice big pieces of salmon, cod and some mussels with a perfectly balanced creamy sauce (not too fat).  This was served with some boiled potatoes. What else does a man need? Really if you like the traditional Belgian cuisine, ‘t Spinnekopke is just the place.
